First National University in Indonesia

Universitas Islam Indonesia was founded in Jakarta on 27 Rajab 1364 H, coinciding with 8 July 1945, under the name of Sekolah Tinggi Islam (STI). STI is a noble ideal of Indonesia’s national figures upon contemplating that all colleges were owned by the Dutch colonial government back then. STI was born to demonstrate awareness of education among the local people.

Our campuses are spread across various locations in the city center of Yogyakarta. The UII Main Campus is located on Kaliurang street km 14.5, Sleman, Yogyakarta with an area of more than 35 hectares located on the northern outskirts of Yogyakarta, surrounded by a comfortable sub-urban environment and overlooking the stunning beauty of Mount Merapi.
